The Provisional Driving Licence PDL is a licence that will allow learner motorists to take practical driving or riding lessons during the course of their training to obtain a valid Singapore Driving Licence 1 , after the learner motorist passes the Basic Theory Test.

Simulator training provides learner motorists with a realistic, experiential and immersive driving and riding experience, without being physically on the road.
Learner motorists will also have the opportunity to practise defensive driving and riding in a safe and controlled environment. Learner motorists will go through various on-road scenarios to allow them to learn how to better navigate and react to various road conditions and risks. The scenarios for the course are based on the top 10 causes of traffic accidents resulting in injuries, such as high-speed cornering on expressways, cyclists in blind spots, as well as driving and riding in wet weather conditions.

Learner motorists who experience adverse symptoms during the simulator module will need to consult a Singapore registered medical practitioner or specialist and seek their assessment if they wish to be exempted from the simulation training. The doctor would also be required to certify if the learner motorist is fit to drive.
The learner motorist is required to submit the relevant and supporting documents from the doctor to the Chief Tester of the respective test centre for assessment. Motorists are reminded to stay within the turning pocket until the pedestrian crossing is clear as well as look out for oncoming traffic before making a turn. Failing to Have Proper Control.
Travel at a lower speed or switch to a lower gear if needed to maintain control of the vehicle. This video is to educate motorists to change lanes with due care. Motorists are reminded to always signal in advance, check mirrors and blind spots before changing lanes and to plan their routes early to avoid abrupt lane changing behavior.
This video is to educate motorists to exercise care when making a turn. Motorists are reminded to signal early, slow down and stop to give way to other road users and only proceed to make a turn only after ensuring that it is clear to do so.
Following too Close to Vehicle in Front Tailgating. This video is to educate motorists not to tailgate while driving. Motorists are reminded to always maintain a safe following distance with the vehicle in front, watch for the brake lights of the vehicle in front or traffic ahead and be mindful of the braking distance. Overtaking Without Due Care. This video is to educate motorists to exercise care when overtaking. Motorists are reminded to slow down when the vehicle in front signals to turn, and only proceed to change lanes after signaling and ensure that the road is clear.

During this period, there is no limit on the number of times you may watch the video. Subsequently, when you have completed the video 1 subjects, video 1 will close and video 6 will automatically open for you.

Thus, the video is still not opened under the rolling 5 video basis. Secondly, the subject has already been completed by the learner. Under the rolling 5 video basis, the video will be closed. Learners should view the video for a particular subject before coming to CDC for practical lessons for the corresponding subject. These videos can be streamed by learners anywhere and at anytime. The video for a subject will be closed when learners have completed their practical training for that subject under the rolling 5 video basis.
For videos under your package, it will expire when you have completed the practical subject or when your CDC membership expires, whichever is earlier. For videos purchased on a-pay-per-view basis, it will expire after it is viewed once or after 14 days, whichever is earlier.

The instructors will advise on the number of lessons that you have to take before the practical test.
On average, learners have to attend around 24 to 27 lessons. Learner drivers, who are not under the OneTeam or EliteTeam training scheme, may choose their preferred instructor at an additional charge per practical lesson.
Learner drivers have to accept any instructor and car allocated to them at all times if there is no fixed instructor or the preferred instructor is unavailable.
Learner drivers should follow the instructions and safety regulations given by the instructor during the lesson. Learner drivers need to be in proper attire at all times during practical lessons.
You may do so with the approval from your gynaecologist who has to certify that you are fit for practical lessons as well as the Practical Driving Test. Please bring along the letter of certification from your gynaecologist for every practical lesson and the Traffic Police Practical Driving Test.
You will also have to submit the most recent letter that states the date of your Practical Driving Test to the Traffic Police Department on the day of your Practical Driving Test. You are encouraged to continue with your current training lessons.
However, you can check with your instructor if it is appropriate for you to switch as the change will disrupt your learning progress. Once you have applied and make successful payment for your QDL online, your photo card driving licence will be mailed to you via registered post within 7 working days. Please note that if you do not apply and make successful payment for your QDL online, you will not be allowed to drive or ride.
Do note that driving or riding without a valid driving licence is a serious offence and offenders will be prosecuted in Court. If you already possess an existing valid Singapore driving licence and had just passed another class of driving licence, you do not need to take a digital photograph at the driving centre and apply for your QDL.
After you had passed the practical test, the driving tester at the Traffic Police Test Centre will assist to paste an endorsement sticker with the new class of QDL that you had passed at the back of your existing valid Singapore photo card driving licence.
There is no fee charged for the endorsement of your new class of driving licence. Please note that if you do not endorse your QDL, you will not be allowed to drive or ride.
