You can take advantage of the numerous layer styles and other design features in Photoshop to create exactly the menu you want, and know that it will retain its appearance and formatting when you import it into Adobe Encore DVD.
For example, it includes a limited Layers palette, and you can create and edit text for menus. You can apply layer styles in Photoshop that are not available in Adobe Encore DVD, create adjustment layers, and format text using advanced formatting features.
When you import the menu into Adobe Encore DVD, it recognizes and retains layer styles, and honors adjustment layers. Navigate to the Lesson 03 folder in the Open dialog box. The Main.

You can have several menus open in the Menu Editor window at once. This menu has four buttons. Three will link to the individual timelines, and one will link back to the main menu. The Monitor window opens as well. Adobe Encore DVD also offers a more visual way to create links: the pick whip. After you release the mouse button, the Properties palette displays the link that you created.
Only timelines and menus may be linked to buttons. Because the Kiss timeline has only one chapter marked by the default chapter point at the beginning of the timeline , that chapter is automatically selected. Drag the Override pick whip from the Properties palette to the The Door button in the lower pane of the Menu window. Now you will set the links and overrides for the other two buttons.
Make sure the Properties palette displays the attributes for the The Door button. It contains four buttons with animated thumbnails representing the four sections of the video. After each video plays, the thumbnail menu reappears. Navigate to the Lesson 07 folder.
Notice that there are four distinct parts of the movie. At the end of the movie, the image fades to black and remains black for about two seconds. Only the menus in the project appear in the Menus tab. Make sure the Properties palette is open and displays the attributes for the selected buttons.
